Aims and Objects of Agender Waikato
 | To help the transgendered person and partner come to terms with transgenderism in a positive way. |
| To promote the emotional and social well being of it's members, and transgendered people in general. |
| To provide a safe and secure venue for transgendered people and families to meet together socially and to share information and ideas |
| To eliminate the social stigma attached to transgendered people. |
| To educate the general public about transgenderism and work to create a more accepting world |
| To take transgenderism out of the closet into the mainstream of life. |
Anyone who is transgendered basically. Agender Waikato uses the term transgender to cover all aspects of the gender continuum.Obviously we have transgendered people but the group is for partners and families also. We also are happy to accept supporters as members.
Sort of. While there is no formal process, it is important for everyone to feel comfortable in a new environment, so we encourage people to meet with local co-coordinators where possible.
The meetings are held in a Motel unit, at a time convenient to them. Usually on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 7:30pm Arrangements can be made for those needing to arrive a bit early to dress. Other events occur from time to time i.e. BBQ's & Halloween Party's etc.
Well, it's like any other gathering of people, lots of talk, gossip and discussion and the world. Sometimes there are special events and these are identified well in advance.
Yourself, of course, and anything you may need to dress, make-up, etc. Some members contribute a bottle of wine towards the refreshments for the evening. A contribution towards supper would also be greatly appreciated.
Each area is voluntarily run by a coordinator, this is most likely to be a couple, usually a transgendered person As this is totally voluntary on their behalf, please respect their home and privacy. There will be a donation container on the supper table so please pop in a coin or two to help pay for the tea, coffee and heating etc.
Members shall always conduct themselves, at any function of the group, in a respectable manner and have regard for the feelings of other members.
